Toy Theater

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Toy Theater was a short film project I created during a digital video class I took in 2004.  It was later shown at “50 cent Exit” at the Stones Throw in Eau Claire WI, and then in Spring of 2007, in NOTA (the DVD additional features).

I have been watching a lot of movies this winter, partially due to the extreme cold Minnesota weather we have been having in St Paul, and have been inspired to start working on some new projects.

On the Easel…in progress

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

A few weeks ago I took a long walk around the Crocus Hill / Cathedral Hill neighborhood before sunrise watching as the sky slowly turned a deep blue and lights began to flicker on in the historic homes.  I’ve been painting this image in my mind since that morning, and I am finally putting it to canvas.  I’m taking photos as I go with this piece to show the changes I make, here is the first stage.

The Sea…in progress

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

I’ve been thinking about the sea a lot in the last few days and have just started to work on this painting. I have a lot of work to do on this canvas, but here is a peek at the in progress stages.  This is inspired by a day trip I took to Knoydart last fall.  Knoydart is situated between Lochs Nevis and Hourn.
