Rough Sketches in Paint

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

As promised…some rough small sketches in paint from my Scotland and Ireland holiday.  These were painted quickly on location, in the wind, cold, changing sun and “midges”… all are acrylic on board.

Mallaig, Scotland (there are lots of midges stuck to this one! I had to quit early because of the bug bites!)

The Highlands, painted when I got off the train ride from Fort William to Mallaig, an amazing ride…

Live Art! Friday Night!

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Live Art! Between the hours of 5 and 10pm, 18 visual artists will take to the main stage of the State Theatre, creating original pieces of art in full view of the public. The viewers will bid on the ever-shifting art via a silent auction without knowing how the completed pieces look. There will be two cash bars and live music during this art happening. All proceeds will benefit the Art Gallery.

Cork Ireland

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Have been walking around the colorful streets of Cork (city) Ireland. It hasn’t rained yet today, the sun was even out for a bit. The buildings are all sorts of wonderful colors, lots of character. Checked out some local artwork today, including that of Sue Powel, & then Crawford municipal gallery. Planning to paint a bit tonight.
