Photo:  Priming boards for CSA

Photo: Sketching by Lake Superior

I am about 25% done with the CSA (Community Supported Art) paintings.  This has already been a great challenge at the same time a lot of fun to work on!  Thinking back to when I was part of a food CSA with Keewaydin farms , I have to laugh thinking about the surprise of opening each box of produce, some of the contents were exciting like bright bunches of kale, others a surprise like the one box that had morels in it!  The CSArt boxes will be the same way, which is part of why I love the idea of participating in this project.  I wonder who purchased shares this year?  I know that everyone has different tastes and that one painting could be the “morel” to on share holder and the “brussel sprout” to another.  Yet just like a brussel sprout in a food share you can always pass it along to a neighbor.  On that note I’d better get back to painting 36 more to go!

Leave a note if you are reading this and purchased a share this season!

For the CSA I will be creating 50 unique paintings, 6″ x 8″ on maple board.  These paintings will depict the life, community and landscape around the the Western end of Lake Superior; from Duluth and the North Shore to the South Shore and the Apostle Islands.
